I got hired to photograph Funko Pops.

10,000 of them.

Once upon a time…

A woman named Regina opened a restaurant called Darkside. It wasn’t just a restaurant, it was a museum for her world-class collection of pop-culture memorabilia.

No ordinary collection.

Full-sized statues, original movie props, rare autographs, and roughly 10,000 Funko Pops— her pride and joy. She wanted photos taken, to share with the world. But no ordinary photos would do…

No sir, not Regina…

She demanded the kind of high-concept product photography normally reserved for commercial advertising, along with dedicated social media accounts to feature daily posts and paid promotions.

I was her only hope.

Green glowing Funko Pop figure of a male character with brown hair, wearing a black outfit, holding a green lightsaber, with intense glowing eyes, and a dark background.
Chibi-style Darth Vader character with glowing eyes, holding a red lightsaber, set against a black background with red highlights.
A glowing blue vinyl figure of Baby Yoda (Grogu) from Star Wars against a dark background, with a large head, big eyes, and robes, holding his hand out.

I created ad campaigns, flyers, brochures, stickers, posters, billboards, videos, motion graphics, menus, and merchandise.

For over three years, I was solely responsible for the brand’s identity and ongoing development in a full-time position.

I photographed and edited thousands of products, creating and managing content across multiple social platforms.

But most of all,

I had fun:

The Force will be with her, always.

Regina was more than a client. She was a kindred spirit, a creative collaborator, and a generous patron. She was my friend of 20 years, and I loved her. Kind, brilliant, and young at heart, she left this world a little bit brighter—and darker—than she found it.
